Statutory Demand – The use of a statutory demand is a threat to petition the court for a winding-up or bankruptcy order, it must be served personally at the registered office of a limited company or at the principal place of business if non-limited.

If payment is not made within 21 days the petition can be presented. Once this happens and the debtors bank learns of the petition their bank account(s) will be frozen and the debtors ability to pay affected. Should the debtor pay within 21 days, the costs of issuing a statutory demand are not recoverable, unless allowed for in your terms.
